On the eastern flanks of Dyffryn Llanberis (Llanberis Pass) is a monumental rock feature. This is Dinas Gromlech and is instrumental in the development of rock climbing in the fifties when working class climbers like Joe Brown and Don Whillans advanced the standard of climbing by brave and audacious leads. One of the most well known of these is the centre, open book corner of Dinas Gromlech, known to all climbers as Cenotaph Corner.
