It is where David Owen, the bard and harpist, better known as Dafydd y Garreg Wen was buried. Also John Stumllyn, a black servant to the Wynne family brought here as a young boy in the middle of the 18th century. He was taught to speak Welsh and English and was babtized and buried at the church.
