This is a little known gorge that weaves its torturous way down from the high moorland behind Llan Ffestiniog to end up at the beautiful Maentwrog valley. Its beginning is characterised by spectacular plunging waterfalls then a meandering section before entering the deeply wooded gorge depicted in the painting. This mixed media technique combined with the rough hand made paper is perfect to portray the many textures of the scene.
