There is a large lay-by on the road between Beddgelert and Penygwryd,  with an ice cream van seemingly permanently parked there. The lay-by is there because it offers the traveller the best and most spectacular view of Yr Wyddfa. On this particular day I was lucky because the clouds which habitually cover the summit had started to disperse.
