Clough Williams Ellis was a bit of a magpie when it came to aquiring buildings for his dream.....the village of Portmeirion. Size was not a factor, hence this spectacular colonnade which he aquired from a hotel in Bristol. This watercolour drawing is an illustration showing the capital of one of the columns that supports the colonnade.
