Just to the north and east of Beaumaris the B5109 makes its way northwards towards the village of Llangoed. For a short distance the Wales Coast Path follows it until at a point where the road turns inland the path deserts it and follows the coast. They tell me that it is quite feasable to scramble along even at high tide, but the day I was there the tide was well out with the Menai idyllically still. The silence was deafening, the only sound was the low rumble of traffic along the A55 on the mainland.
